The Miyama Kayabuki no Sato ~thatched roof village is located in Miyama town Nantan city in Kyoto. In this village, 39 thatched roof houses built over 200 years ago are conserved, and are reflected the scenery of old Japan in the countryside.

This nostalgic Kayabuki no Sato is registered as an important preservation district of historic buildings in Japan. Having said that, you might be amazed that the majority of Miyama’s old houses survive as residential dwellings where people still live and work.
