Fushimi Walking Tour
Beautiful scenic canal town with popular sake breweries
The Fushimi district in Kyoto was developed as a Sake brewery area and home to about 40 sake breweries, thanks to the clean, soft water that flows in abundance from the river’s underground springs. Whenever one hears the word “Fushimi,” most people think about the thousands of vermilion torii gates in the Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine. But on this tour, we take you through the beautiful scenic town just near the Chushojima station, where you will be transported back in time by the picturesque willow tree-lined canals.
Aside from strolling through the scenic sake brewery area, you’ll be guided through the beautiful river walkways, taken to a temple, brought to a small, nostalgic shopping street, and to the Kappa museum (Kappa is a Japanese mystical water creature that resembles a humanoid turtle).
